Low-pulsation,Pressure stable,filter press feed pumps
A sewage treatment plant sought new filter press feed pumps as an
alternative to the previously used progressing cavity pumps.
Reasons for the change included the high costs of pump maintenance,
the high cost of spare parts and high energy costs.
They chose a Accuvon AP100Twin Pack; two identical Accuvon AP100
Rotary Lobe Pumps connected in series. Each pump has its own drive
and frequency inverter. This allows the speed of each pump to be
adjusted independently.
The filter press operates in two distinct phases; the pre-filling
phase and the pressure phase. During pre-filling large quantities
of sludge will be pumped into the filter press to fill the
chambers. The Accuvon Pumps are operated at high speed for this
phase.
As the filter press becomes loaded with sludge, the back-pressure
increases. The pressure is monitored via a pressure sensor. As the
pressure increases, the speed of the pumps is adjusted accordingly
(pressure phase).
The customer is very satisfied with the Accuvon Rotary Lobe pumps.
The space-saving design, excellent performance and ease of
maintenance have impressed the treatment plant operators.
